Ohio Wesleyan University was established with community support in 1842, when the Rev. Adam Poe, pastor of Delaware's William Street Church, encouraged the citizens of Delaware to raise funds to purchase a building and establish a university "of the highest order" in central Ohio.

Employers covet OWU’s well-prepared graduates. In 2022, 96% of reporting graduates were employed and/or in graduate school within six months. OWU’s new Career Connection program connects students with internship opportunities from Silicon Valley to the Mayo Clinic to the New York arts world and Wall Street.

OWU students are uber-involved on the beautiful, historic, 200-acre campus in central Ohio, with over 100 student clubs, organizations, and activities. Bishops compete on 24 varsity sports teams and students contribute more than 40,000 hours a year in volunteer service.

On campus, OWU offers over 70 majors, and about a third of students graduate with multiple majors.
