UOWD Scholarships

Academic Merit Scholarship – Academically inclined students only need a slight nudge to excel in their respective fields. The Academic Merit Scholarship by UOWD provides this much-needed external support to such students through its Academic Merit Scholarship, providing a 15%–20% waiver on tuition fees at the bachelor’s level and 15%–25% tuition fee waivers at the master’s level. To be eligible for this scholarship at the bachelor’s level, students must maintain weighted average marks (WAM) of minimum 75%, 65%, or 55% to receive 50%, 25%, and 15% scholarships, respectively.

Moreover, students must enrol in at least 3 subjects in the autumn, winter, and spring trimesters to qualify for this scholarship. Master’s students applying for this scholarship must have a WAM of at least 65 for 15%–25% waivers and must enrol in at least 2 subjects in the autumn, spring, and winter trimesters. Finally, an applicant having failed in any of the subjects is not eligible. The scholarship is not inclusive of overhead expenses pertaining to accommodation, textbooks, etc.

Adam Gilchrist Sports Awards – Named after the eponymous Australian cricketer and UOWD ambassador, this scholarship is provided to 2 students at the bachelor’s or master’s level during the autumn (September) trimester. Students eligible for this recognition must have participated at the state, national, or international level in a sport sanctioned, controlled and/or authorized by an association, committee, or federation. Moreover, eligible students at the bachelor’s level should have scored at least 65% in their secondary school examinations, with no “Fail” grades.

Enrolment in a minimum of 3 subjects in the autumn, winter, and spring trimesters is mandatory. A student applying at the master’s level must have a GPA of 3.0–4.0 and enrol in at least 2 subjects in the autumn, winter, and spring trimesters.
Upon selection, the student must secure active membership into the UOWD team of the sport for which s/he has secured the scholarship. The scholarship also warrants the shortlisted student’s active participation in all practice tournaments and competitions.

Scholarship for the Master of International Relations (MIR) – This annual scholarship is offered by UOWD in collaboration with the International Humanitarian City (IHC) to students applying for the Master of International Relations (MIR) course. Eligible students must have GPAs of over 3.00 and should have completed their B.A. by August of the given academic year. Candidates must submit a cover letter, a short resume, and a 2,000-word project pertaining to the UAE International Cooperation.
