Strategies:
Our academic strategy for the next 10 years is rooted in our desire to make a difference in the world.
It sets a blueprint for a values-driven university. One that harnesses expertise in research and education to help shape a better future for humanity, working through collaboration to tackle inequalities, benefit society and drive change.
The academic strategy will be supported by our Enabling Strategy. This will encompass academic areas, our people and ways of working, working conditions and environment, our role in the city and region, financial and environmental sustainability.
Improving access to education:
For the sons of local families, the Yorkshire College of Science was one of the first colleges for students of all faiths and backgrounds.
The College supported the values of the recently established University College London and Owens College in Manchester. These colleges had been set up to challenge the exclusivity of Oxford and Cambridge universities, which were predominantly for the Anglican aristocracy and gentry. By contrast, this new generation of learning institutions welcomed students from all religions, including dissenters, Catholics, Jews and agnostics.
Admission requirements vary from country to country. Kindly contact our admissions counsellor for more information!
